CHOICELESS CHOICES
Today you will get a chance to experience what Lawrence L. Langer coined "choiceless choices". These are choices that do not "reflect options between life and death, but between one form of 'abnormal' response and another, both imposed by a situation that was in no way of the victim's own choosing." Put more simply, there is no definite right or wrong choice here. Both options are left up to chance. The Holocaust was filled with choiceless choices as we have seen reading Night by Elie Wiesel.
Throughout this simulation you will make choices and experience the consequences. While the consequences to your choices cannot possibly represent every outcome, the cause and effect is rooted in historical examples and firsthand accounts. You can find out more about these scenarios by reviewing the sources on the Works Cited Page.
When you have worked your way through all the possible scenarios, you will submit a reflection on google classroom.
